Chrissy Reardon has been working with VMCH for three and a half years, as the Administration Officer for Home Care Packages, in the Shepparton office. While her main role is to answer the phones, meet and greet clients and staff and help with queries, she also works with the clients one day a week, to get to know them and learn what their needs are, which she loves. Having the experience of her mum receiving home care, Chrissy hopes her experience with her mum will help her to make a client and family feel at ease when they call.
What is the biggest change you’ve seen from when you started to now? It was a big change for us when we moved into our new office in Shepparton, to a more central location. There have been staff changes and promotions along the way, but l feel we are lucky in the regional areas, as we all tend to work together well.
What does it mean to you to work at VMCH? I enjoy working with our home care clients (oh and our staff too!) My mum had a Home Care Package with us, and I loved seeing what a difference it made for her. Having some of the services that we provided for her helped her to stay at home and be a bit more independent. She is now living in a lovely aged care residence in Moama, but l know my family was very happy when she was receiving home care. In these uncertain times, l feel lucky to be able to work for an organisation that is very aware and committed to our wellbeing. Things like working from home, and often looking out for our mental health and care has been wonderful. It has been great to feel so cared for.
What do you like to do outside of work? My partner and myself love watching our local footy (which isn’t much happening now). He also has seven beautiful grandbabies, so we get to spend time with them which is always entertaining. We also like to jump in his ute and do day trips around our wonderful region.
