Our overnight respite homes give both you and the person you support a much-needed break.

As a carer, it’s important you take a break. Your role as a carer can impact on your physical and emotional wellbeing. An overnight stay provides your loved one with an opportunity to experience something different.

We have two houses in Victoria, offering social activities during the day as well as overnight respite. While we recognise the benefits of routine we also offer you flexibility. That’s why you can pick to just come in for the day or also join us for an overnight stay. Either way, it is your chance to take time out and recharge.

If you’re only interested in our day programs, we have three additional community centres.

You can call our houses directly to ask how they’ll work for you.

Carinya House, Lysterfield*

Located in Lysterfield, Carinya House is a comfortable home away from home offering overnight accommodation for people with dementia over the age of 65 years.

In addition to our overnight respite, Carinya also offers social activities during the day.

We’ve created a community which ensures you feel relaxed and supported while you’re away from home. Plus, we make sure we get to know you and what’s important to you while also collaborating with your usual circle of support.

We give you that much-needed break in an environment that feels like home, and tailor our programs to compliment your usual life routines.

While staying at Carinya House, our focus is on enhancing functional and psychological independence, building on your strengths, capacity and goals.

Our service is unique and recognises the benefits of routine. But we also offer you flexibility and choice in your activities.
