“We are working to ensure there is as little disruption as possible for residents, with the village’s existing Committee of Management to continue oversight of the operations, and key village staff to remain.” – Sonya Smart, VMCH CEO.
VMCH is pleased to announce the expansion of our retirement living portfolio, with the acquisition of Point Cook Village in Melbourne’s western suburbs.
The established village, comprising 257 independent living units and 24 apartments, sits within Victoria’s fastest growing Local Government Area (Wyndham), and brings VMCH’s total number of retirement homes to 868 across Victoria (within 16 communities).
Situated near Point Cook Coastal Park, Point Cook Village spans 13 hectares and includes a modern clubhouse, swimming pool and bowling green.
VMCH CEO Sonya Smart said the decision to acquire the village from RCA Villages aligned with the organisation’s strategic objectives, and would ensure much-needed housing options remained for a rapidly ageing population.
“VMCH already has a significant retirement presence in Melbourne’s inner eastern suburbs. This investment allows us to expand our reach into the west and offer residents other established local VMCH services including home care and residential aged care, should the need arise.”
Ms Smart said the for-purpose organisation looked forward to welcoming village residents into the VMCH community.
The sale of Point Cook Village was finalised on 5 February 2025
