Looking for a fun way to celebrate St Patrick’s Day and also visit a friendly and welcoming retirement village Shanagolden Village, in Pakenham, is holding a morning tea to celebrate the day from 11am to 12.30pm on Thursday March 17.

Shanagolden Village is named after a small Irish village and is looking forward to marking this connection with morning tea where visitors can see retirement living up close.

The retirement village’s Community Centre will be decorated in green to celebrate St Patrick’s Day and morning tea will be served to visitors.

Shannagolden residents like Denis and Therese Quinn, will attend and people interested in learning more about Shanagolden Village are welcome to speak to them. Staff will also be available to take people on tours of the village.

Shanagolden Village retirement living coordinator Fiona Sparrow said events like the St Patrick’s Day morning tea are a great way to experience the friendly and social atmosphere of the village.

“They will be made to feel very, very welcome,” Fiona said.

“We’ve got a great community spirit, a great feel (at Shanagolden Village).”

Kevin and Denise Burns live at the retirement village and say its social events are lots of fun and are one of the reasons it’s a great place to live.

“The community centre is very well patronised and it’s a fun, jovial atmosphere,” Kevin said.
