Nivia lives at Corpus Christi, in Clayton. She says that after searching for a friendly retirement community in her local area she found what she was looking for at Corpus Christi.
In her words…
Corpus Christi appealed to me mostly because I like a smaller community and I know who lives next door and I have a chat every now and again.
Secondly, because we used to live in the area and to me it was the most fantastic thing. My son lives around the corner, his in-laws are just across the road from the residential place, so they all invite me to come … ‘come and have a coffee, come and have a coffee’. I think it’s good that you stay in your area rather than go too far away.
For me it’s like paradise because it’s nice, it’s handy, it’s friendly and I’ve got friends around and I used to live in the area and I’m very happy.
People are very friendly, whenever I go for a walk everybody says hello. I think we made a good choice when we chose to come here.
If one of my friends would ask me if I like it or not, I would say straight away that I do like it and that they should do the same when the time comes.
Ghylliane and Paul say were struck by how friendly the community was at Corpus Christi when they visited it for the first time.
In their words …
Ghylliane: VMCH retirement community appealed to us because of the safety firstly and being surrounded by people who are friendly. Before we came we met a few people here and immediately we were struck by the friendliness. The place looked so safe and clean and friendly that we said that’s the place for us.
I would recommend a friend to come and live here. In fact we have had friends come to our place who are thinking of moving to a retirement village and have said that’s beautiful where you are.
Paul: We have always got something to do (here). Our lives are crammed full of lots and lots of things to do. It’s a lifestyle change for the better because the people are so nice here. It’s extraordinary the kind of friendship which comes to you, people you don’t know and suddenly you know these people here.
