When you first started comparing home care package providers, your criteria for what you wanted or prioritised may have looked very different now you’re receiving services.
Let’s face it, you don’t know what you don’t know. Now that you’ve got the knowledge to better decide what’s most important to you, you might be ready to change providers. The good news is it’s easier than you may think.
Some common reasons for switching providers:

Myth: Switching providers is hard.
Honestly, the hardest part is choosing your new provider. If you’re considering moving or you’ve chosen VMCH, please give us a call on 1300 698 624. We’ll work with your current provider to arrange a smooth transition. Leave all the leg work to us, it’s that easy.
Myth: It’s expensive to switch.
Not at all. Providers are not allowed to charge you exit fees and you also won’t lose any unspent funds held by your current provider. The funds will be returned to the government and made available to VMCH to access on your behalf after 70 days.
Myth: I could lose my Home Care Package.
This is a horrible thought, and let us reassure you that you cannot have your package taken from you because you switch providers. Whether you change once or multiple times, your package remains with you. Just remember, you need to start with your new provider within 56 days of finishing up with your old one.
Myth: It won’t get better if I switch.
There is certainly a risk in moving providers as you never know if they’re going to deliver on their promises until you start. Tell you current provider you want to switch.
To switch providers, you simply need to write to them and let them know you’re moving. Most providers have a notice period of about two weeks but check your Home Care Agreement to make sure.
Call VMCH
If you choose VMCH, please tell us the name of your current provider and provide us with their contact details. We’ll get in touch with them and ensure your unspent funds are transferred smoothly.
Relax and enjoy VMCH services
You’re all done! Put your feet up and relax while you wait for the start date of your new provider. Any unspent funds will be transferred to the new provider. If you choose VMCH, we’ll be in touch to discuss your needs and develop your new plan.
