The venue has a fascinating local history, it’s namesake Fook Shing, was a Chinese detective who worked with the Victorian Police Force overseeing disputes in the goldfields and was involved in the hunt for the Kelly Gang. First operated as a temperance hotel by the Alexander family, Fook Shing has seen many changes in its life. Originally hosting coaches and their crew on the gold route it is believed that Fook Shing stayed at the Pub as it offered excellent stables most suitable for constabulary.
