Our mission

Our Catholic values underpin the work we do.

Here at VMCH (Villa Maria Catholic Homes), our services are as diverse as the people we support.

Our values underpin the work we do. As a Catholic, for-purpose organisation, love, joy, courage and hospitality aren’t just words to us, they guide us in everything we do.

While we’ve been around for over a century, we’re always moving forward. We stay true to who we are by supporting people and families to live their best lives, providing a place to call home and spaces to learn and grow.

Our Mission

Fulfilling the caring ministry of Jesus, we are committed to creating genuine places of belonging, through service and compassion for all aged, disadvantaged and people with disability.

As a Catholic organisation we observe the teachings and practices of the Catholic Church by celebrating the life of individuals and their communities as expressed in their physical, social and spiritual wellbeing.

We foster connections and show compassion for one another with kindness and respect.

Creating Joy

We create a culture of happiness and positivity, celebrating life and the uniqueness of all.

Embracing hospitality

We welcome all to our community, bringing comfort and a sense of belonging.

Showing Courage

We do what is right, regardless of our fears, the challenges or consequences.

Our commitment to eradicate modern slavery

VMCH is committed to supporting people who are disadvantaged and marginalised. In accordance with our values, we are committed to respecting and promoting human rights, which includes the commitment to work to eradicate modern slavery. We aim to ensure that decisions made by VMCH do not allow modern slavery to exist within our operations, business relationships and extended supply chains.

We are committed to preventing child abuse and identifying risks early, removing and reducing these risks.

We are committed to providing a child safe environment where children and young people are safe and feel safe, and their voices are heard about decisions that affect their lives.

We are committed to providing a safe environment for children with disability, as well as the cultural safety of Aboriginal children and children from culturally and/or linguistically diverse backgrounds.

Our history

On July 1, 2015, Villa Maria Catholic Homes was born.

Two very similar Catholic, values based, for-purpose organisations merged to provide a stronger, more diverse range of services to meet the needs of older people, children and adults with disabilities, their families and carers.

Of particular interest is that both organisations were created by ordinary people who saw a need and sought ways to meet them.

The decision to merge saw two thriving organisations build on their respective, significant histories and develop and expand their diverse services. Today, VMCH (as we have been known since April 2019) provides early learning and therapy, specialist education, disability services, affordable homes, residential aged care, retirement living and at-home aged care to more than 7,600 people across Victoria.

Here at VMCH, our services are as diverse as the people we support.

Our values underpin the work we do. As a Catholic for-purpose organisation, compassion, respect and inclusion aren’t just words to us, they guide us in everything we do.

While we’ve been around for over a century, we’re always moving forward. Always staying true to who we are by supporting people and families to live their best lives; providing a place to call home and spaces to learn and grow.
