Staying connected to family and friends has enormous benefits to our health and wellbeing. This is true at every age, but can be more difficult as we get older – especially in the social media age.
VMCH wants to help people living in our aged care residences stay connected to the people that are most important in their lives. That’s why we are launching our major fundraising campaign for 2019, In-Touch, to ensure all our residents can keep in touch with all the things that are important to them.
The In-Touch program will help VMCH buy an iPad for residents living at our 11 aged care residences. Equally important, the program will help them get the most out of technology and social media, so that they can stay connected.
With the help of our local volunteers and students from near-by schools, program participants will learn about the amazing tools available at their finger tips thanks to their iPad. This includes things like photo album creation and sharing, messages with family and friends, email communication and social media. It will also enable on-site announcements and daily activity schedules, all accessible from residents’ new iPads.
In-Touch will also allow access to programs supporting memory function, dexterity, vision training and development.
VMCH CEO Sonya Smart said she was looking forward to seeing how this program evolved over the next few months.
“This is an exciting program that I am sure will enrich the lives of our aged care residents,” she said.
“We are excited about the endless possibilities of the In-Touch program and can’t wait to see how many residents will be using their iPad by Christmas.”
