October is National Safe Work Month, which aims to raise awareness of work health and safety This month is a good reminder that working together safely is everyone’s priority!
National Safe Work Month provides an opportunity for us all to reflect on our safety behaviour and culture. It is important for you to be aware of safe work practices for yourself, your colleagues and the people you care for.
VMCH are intent on raising awareness of the importance of safety and reducing our incidents of injury.
Here’s what is happening across VMCH during National Work Safe Month.
The VMCH Hazard Hunt is back!
Whilst a fun activity, the aim of the hunt is to reinforce the need for us to be proactive in identifying and reporting hazards we see. So, come and join in and identify the hazards in your workplace and go into the running to win $500 towards a fun activity for you and your team-mates. Beyond the hunt however, we encourage you to keep practicing good housekeeping and identify those hazards.
Be a Safety Champion
The theme for National Safe Work Month 2019 is ‘Be a Safety Champion’. This October, we’re challenging you to become a VMCH Safety Champion!
A Safety Champion is simply a staff member who is passionate about their work, as well as health and safety. Anyone can be a Safety Champion. It’s all about actively promoting safe work behaviours and attitudes every day at work.
Organise your own team activity to promote Safe Work Month
Hold a Safety morning tea or BBQ and thank ourselves for working safely. Pick a safety topic relevant to your area and discuss. Visit Safety page for more ideas to promote safety month.
Stay in the know, with further information and resources to be launched this month on the safety page of The Hub.
