Welcome to the August edition of our staff and volunteer newsletter.
This month we celebrated staff who reached significant milestones in their work with VMCH. I was delighted to catch up with about 30 long-serving staff members for lunch at the Staff Service Awards.
Some have been with VMCH for more than 30 years, they are still going strong and doing important work for our organisation. I would like to sincerely thank them for their commitment to VMCH’s mission.
Volunteers are also invaluable members of the VMCH community and I’d like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to the dedicated team at the Bayswater Op Shop. They have been behind its success for more than three decades.
It was sad to recently see the closure of this op shop. However, I am delighted to tell you that most of its volunteers will be taking on other volunteer roles within VMCH.
It is always heartening to hear the families we support share stories about the excellent care they receive by VMCH services. It’s the reason so many of us choose to work at VMCH – because we want to make a difference.
That’s why I really loved Scott Butterworth’s story. His son Lucas attends VMCH specialist school, St Paul’s College, and he’s loving it. Scott and his new wife, Monica, recently asked their wedding guests to donate money to the school in lieu of gifts. We are truly grateful for the family’s donation, and more importantly delighted to know that Lucas loves the school’s new campus.
I hope you enjoy reading this edition of NOW.
