The September edition of our staff and volunteer newsletter includes a story about the recent celebrations marking Aged Care Employee Day.
More than 365,000 people work in aged care and support 1.3 million older Australians. I would like to add my thanks to all the people who provide excellent care and support to people at our aged care communities.
VMCH’s op shops are another place where you will see our dedicated staff and volunteers provide a very important community service.
Our op shops are a great place for people to buy a wide range of affordable items in good condition. They also give our volunteers valuable work experience and social connections. It is Op Shop Week at the end of September and there will be lots of great promotions to celebrate our op shops. Stay tuned.
Supporting people in aged care, disability services, in the home and community offers many rewards. It also offers many challenges every day for our staff and volunteers. That’s why checking in with each other and asking are you okay can be a very powerful way we can support each other.
It is R U OK? Day on September 12 and a great opportunity to do just that – check in on colleagues, friends and loved ones. Often just knowing that people care can help someone going through a tough time.
I hope you enjoy reading all the stories in the latest edition of NOW.
