The Coronavirus has impacted all of us, and we are conscious that you might have reduced your face-to-face contact with family or care workers. VMCH is now taking extra steps to support people in this situation by offering technology to help our clients stay safe and connected during periods of isolation.
This technology is called “Umps”. Unusual name we know, but it’s named after the grandfather of the inventor.
Umps supports safety, independence and wellbeing at home by using smart power plugs to measure when you use your household appliances, like boiling the kettle, turning on the TV or opening the fridge. These power plugs learn your usual routine, and if a change in activity indicates that you might need help, they can alert family or friends so you get the support you need.
Umps is available for $40 a month and can be funded entirely through your home care package.
