Excitement is building around VMCH’s major fundraiser for the year – the Community Art and Craft Exhibition at the Hawthorn Arts Centre, on November 16 and 17.
The event will raise money for specialist school St Paul’s College’s Discovery Centre of Imagination; an integrated learning environment that uses technology to help students learn and thrive. It will be an amazing feature of its new school being built in Balwyn.
For more than 60 years, St Paul’s College has supported children of all abilities at its Kew school. This new school will ensure it continues to be an innovative and inclusive school for generations to come. And one group that is very excited about the move and the upcoming fundraiser is the St Paul’s College Parents & Friends Association. They are getting behind the Community Art and Craft Exhibition by donating their time to the event, contributing artwork and attending the two-day event.
Anne Dunstan is one of the school parents volunteering her time and artwork for the event. Her daughter Bridget is a senior student at the St Paul’s.
“It’s a simple way to give back to the school and to help our kids,” she said.
“It’s really important for us to be there. To be visible. This is what it’s all about. It’s about our kids and helping them to achieve their best.”
She is also excited that the community will see what her daughter and fellow students can do through artwork they are contributing.
“It’s so important to highlight what our kids can do,” she said. “Don’t underestimate what our kids can achieve. They are capable of amazing things. They face difficulties every day that none of us can even imagine, yet they keep going.”
