VMCH has been recognised on the national stage, taking home two awards at the Future of Ageing Awards in Sydney.
Both VMCH entries shortlisted in this year's awards were named winners, highlighting the organisation's commitment to innovation, inclusion and community impact.
Star Café was named winner in the Community Engagement category, recognising the partnership between VMCH's Social Enterprise team and Star of the Sea Aged Care Residence in Torquay.
Since opening in December 2022, the café has become a vibrant gathering place where residents, people with disability, families, staff and local community members connect each day.
The café also provides meaningful employment pathways for trainees with disability, who gain hands-on experience in barista work, food preparation and customer service. For many locals, visiting Star Café has become part of their weekly routine, while residents enjoy a welcoming space to catch up with family and friends over a coffee.

VMCH's health education partnership with the Multicultural Centre for Women's Health (MCWH) was awarded the People and Culture category.
Launched as a pilot across two aged care homes in 2024, the program has since reached more than 700 staff members. It provides culturally safe and accessible health education in participants' preferred languages, helping women build their knowledge, confidence and wellbeing.
The benefits of the program extend beyond the workplace, with many participants sharing information and resources with family members and friends in their communities.
The awards recognise the dedication, creativity and collaboration of many people across VMCH.
