Long-time VMCH client Robert Toseland is pursuing his radio dreams. Each month Robert produces, edits and presents his own radio show ‘Out and About with Robert Toseland’ on 3wbc.
Robert says VMCH has been vital to helping him pursue his interest, with support workers accompanying him to a radio course at JOY FM. He has also completed courses at Disability Media Australia. VMCH also supports Robert with travel and social experiences, some of which help him with content ideas. A trip to Steamrail Victoria, an overnight stay on a sailing vessel to Geelong and a trip to Darwin (including travelling on The Ghan to Alice Springs) are recent favourites.
“I’ve always been interested in radio since school days,” says Robert. “I’m a ham radio operator (amateur radio) and got my licence back in mid ’80’s, then the marine radio (two-way radio) in 2010, and then I completed the presenter (broadcast radio) course in 2011.”
Robert’s hopes for the future are to boost his listenership and share stories with radio giant ABC and Vision Australia Radio.
