Statement from VMCH CEO, Sonya Smart
Wednesday 20 May 2020
Over the weekend a resident at VMCH Bundoora Aged Care Residence was admitted to hospital with a temperature of 39 degrees Celsius.
As this is a symptom of COVID-19, the resident was tested, with the initial test results being inconclusive (neither negative nor positive).
Tests thus far have produced negative results, with another test result to be returned tomorrow.
VMCH is taking a “no chances” approach and following the Department of Health’s protocols, including a lockdown of the entire residence.
Family members are regularly updated, and all residents and staff closely monitored.
All residents who have had close contact with the person are now in isolation within our residence.
Staff who have had close contact with the person are in self-isolation at home.
All residents and staff who have been tested since 18 May have returned negative COVID-19 test results.
Should any signs of ill health appear, we will seek medical attention immediately.
