Statement from VMCH CEO, Sonya Smart
Friday 22 May 2020
The resident from VMCH Bundoora Aged Care Residence has produced a third negative test result.
This now clears the site of infection, as advised by the Department of Health.
A total of 214 residents and staff have been tested with all results returned negative to COVID-19.
Staff who had close contact with the resident have been self-isolating at home and have been cleared to return to work starting from 27 May.
VMCH will remain in lockdown for the full 14 days, as per the Department of Health’s protocols. The lockdown period will be completed on 1 June unless the Department advises otherwise.
Staff will continue to use PPE during this time as required and visitation is restricted. Throughout the lockdown, family members and staff will continue to be regularly updated.
Bundoora Aged Care Residence has received positive feedback from the Department about their preparedness. Management and staff acted with urgency and commitment while prioritising the health and wellbeing of residents.
