Scott Butterworth’s recent wedding was a special celebration for not only him and his new bride, Monica, it was also a chance to support a cause close to his heart.
They asked their wedding guests to donate to VMCH specialist school, St Paul’s College, in lieu of gifts.
This generous gesture raised $2, 120 for the school which recently moved to a modern, purpose-built new campus in Balwyn.
Supporting St Paul’s College was an easy choice for Scott. His son Lucas, 12, has been a student there since 2014.
“He loves going and gets so much out of his time there. I think the school does a fabulous job in caring for and developing every child who attends.”
It’s not the first time that Scott has raised money for St Paul’s College. He is a bit of an over achiever in that department! He raised money for the school when he completed a marathon and then backed it up with the 2017 Surf Coast Ultra Marathon.
Scott said that during the toughest parts of the marathon and ultra marathon, he reminded himself of the challenges faced by some of the students at St Paul’s College.
“It is an unfortunate truth in our society that people with a disability are often marginalised and not well supported. Providing my support to St Paul’s will hopefully make a small contribution to deal with this.”
